Our Summer Playwrights Festival - an annual celebration of new work which is now in its fifth year- brings together playwrights, directors and actors from around the country for 27 plays in 8 days to be shared with growing Los Angeles audiences.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
This is an excellent opportunity for an intern to get real world hands on experience in the administration of a week- long festival of new plays in Los Angeles. From reading and helping to choose the plays for selection to working with festival producers and staff to interacting with playwrights, actors, directors and audience, this internship offers a comprehensive tutorial on what it takes to create, manage and run an arts festival. For anyone interested in producing theater, this internship will give hands on experience at the professional level.

SKILLS REQUIRED

The festival calls on all of us to make announcements and help people whether it is instructing a long line of patrons waiting at the box office or an already seated audience in need of information about a delay or intermission question. We are not requiring an intern to introduce a festival show but if someone liked doing this we could use those skills. There will be a lot of work on the computer in our office. Creating documents and basic Word . If someone knows Excel that would be a plus but is not a requirement. Graphic talents will also be puit to use as we create festival programs and website graphics advertising each play. We like positive people around us so an intern should be saying yes to this job because they like the public aspect of what theater is. Dealing with people and enjoying the energy of the festival is a key component of this job.
