Merge Conceptual Design, an artist collaborative based in Santa Monica, will design and execute a color and graphics scheme for Allen J. Martin Park, located at 14830 E. Giordano Street in La Puente. Allen Martin Park, tucked into a quiet residential area of La Puente, offers a baseball diamond, bleachers, a basketball court, a new splash area for children, picnic areas, and classes and activities for adults and children. The artists’ color and graphics will unify the park and tie a new modular community building and concession stand into the other park facilities.
About the Artist: Merge Conceptual Design, founded in 2003, has completed temporary and permanent public art projects for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority and the cities of Los Angeles, Pasadena, Santa Monica, Berlin (Germany) and Vienna (Austria). The Merge team includes Claudia Reisenberger and Franka Diehnelt who are both architecture graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, and currently teach at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Their concept for Allen Martin Park includes a community involvement component and a creative approach to managing graffiti.
