Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers The Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers, founded in 1968, are an internationally acclaimed group of 29 singers dedicated to the rich genre of African American folk music. This well-traveled group has performed at Munich's Herkulessaal, Monte Carlo's Concert Hall, Bremen's St. Petri Dom and Paris' historic Eglise Saint Germain Des Pres, as well as The National Recital Hall in Madrid and Barcelona's Palau de Musica. Founder-Director Albert McNeil is renowned within the national choral community, having been honored on five occasions with "Command Performances" by the ensemble before the prestigious American Choral Directors Association in 1981, 1985, 1997, 2000 and 2004. National Public Radio featured the Singers on "Beverly Sills Presents," "Saint Paul Sunday Morning" and the Smithsonian's 26-week series "Wade in the Water." The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, the Dale Warland Singers, Chanticleer and the Vancouver Chamber Choir are some of the ensembles who have collaborated with the Singers throughout the years. In 1998, the Singers performed Gershwin's Porgy and Bess with the Honolulu Symphony and again in their 2000-01 season, with the Pasadena "Pops" Orchestra. For almost 40 years, the Singers have toured throughout Europe, Asia and North and South America. |
