Harmonic Bronze Handbell Ensemble The Harmonic Bronze Handbell Ensemble is a music ensemble of youths ranging from 11 to 18 years old who perform with a four and a half octave set of Schulmerich handbells. The group’s members view themselves as ambassadors of music and musical servants for their communities of Acton and Agua Dulce in the northern part of Los Angeles County. In an effort to showcase diversity in their repertoire, the ensemble performs select handbell pieces, which creatively incorporate musical soloists such as choral groups, flutists, violinists, percussionists and pianists. The ensemble has been featured at Disneyland, the Lancaster Performing Arts Center, Knott’s Berry Farm, the JetHawks Baseball Stadium and local community events. Ensemble Leader Lawrence Rowland is in his 26th year as a sixth grade teacher of the Antelope Valley Unified School District. His professional accomplishments include a District Teacher of the Year award, a Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers award (multi-year recipient) and an Acton Lion’s Club Citizen of the Year award. Rowland feels his greatest accomplishment is being able to share music with his students through the handbell program. |
