--- On July 1, the Folk and Traditional
Arts Program will be moving from the L.A. County Arts Commission to the
Craft and Folk Art Museum (CAFAM) under the auspices of the City of L.A.
Cultural Affairs Department. Because of the City’s interest in strengthening
the programming at CAFAM, and its launching of a new grant program specifically
for folk and traditional artists, this arrangement ensures that the program
will continue and move forward.
Over the past two years, through the Folk and Traditional Arts Program,
the L.A. County Arts Commission has made great strides in addressing the
needs of the local folk arts community. The vital services of the program,
including grants, workshops and the LAFolkArts email listserv, will continue
through the Craft and Folk Art Museum. It is the Cultural Affairs Department’s
aim to make the Craft and Folk Art Museum a true center of folk arts activities
and services for the entire county, encompassing both the visual and performing
arts.
If you have any questions about this transition, please feel free to
call program manager Lisa Richardson at the Craft and Folk Art
Museum after July 1 at 323-937-4230.
