Mariachi Divas

The all-female Mariachi Divas is a unique, multicultural ensemble which over the year has included women of Mexican, Japanese, Samoan, Cuban, Argentinean, Colombian, Swiss, Panamanian, Anglo and Puerto Rican descent. The divas use music to unite their cultural backgrounds. They perform a bilingual medley of “Rudolf the Rednose Reindeer,” “Frosty the Snowman” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”

The Divas are frequently featured at Disney's California Adventure and at the historic La Fonda Mexican restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. Most recently appearing in the documentary Viva El Mariachi, they have performed live on television at the 2005 Premio L.A. Gente award show and at the 2005 Alma Awards, presented at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Other television appearances include BBQ with Bobby Flay, Despierta America, VistaL.A., Primer Impacto, Adelante Hispanos, Futbol Mania and 12 Corazones.

Founded in 1999 by Director Cindy Shea, the ensemble has traveled to Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Tampico, Mexico, and collaborated with Grammy Award winners Joan Sebastian, Jenny Rivera, Marc Antonio Solis, Pablo Montero and Paulina Rubio. Recently, the Divas were invited to perform at the Tucson International Mariachi Concert, Fresno Radio Bilingue Mariachi Show and the Santa Barbara Bowl, where they were honored to perform with Mariachi Vargas and Nati Cano's Mariachi Los Camperos. The Divas have had concerts at The Arrowhead Pond, Gibson Amphitheatre, Great Western Forum, Staples Center and Greek Theatre.
