Description

The Development and Fundraising Intern will be a pivotal member of our fundraising team and gain first-hand experience on how to present fundraising event ideas to primary stakeholders, perform grant research, write four to six figure grant applications, learn best practices for fundraising, and learn how to navigate Salesforce’s user interface and utilize its key features. Throughout this internship, the Development and Fundraising intern will gain a comprehensive understanding of the functioning of an arts education organization. This position is expected to work 15-20 hours per week from June to December OR 40 hours per week from June to September.

Qualifications

Strong candidates will possess the following: Interest in arts education/programming, and addressing the needs of underserved youth. Strong writing, research, communication and critical-thinking skills. Strong sense of professionalism and personal responsibility. Willingness to take initiative, ask questions, and learn new skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask. Possess or willing to learn a basic understanding of project management, and be comfortable working with a project team. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, and willing to learn Excel. Willingness to learn Salesforce CRM, Squarespace, Asana, social media and other relevant software. Knowledge of Adobe Reader or Creative Suite, a plus.
 

Background

Inner-City Arts provides visual/performing arts instruction for students from underserved communities on our downtown Los Angeles campus through our programs - Learning and Achieving Through the Arts [K-8]; Visual, Media & Performing Arts Institutes [middle and high school]; and Work of Art [teens]. We also provide integrated arts training for classroom teachers and others; as well as community programming through The Rosenthal Theater.
