Moving Arts - Production Intern

3191 Casitas Ave Los Angeles, California 90039

Description

The Production Intern will work closely with our artistic and programming staff to plan for and produce our MADLab First Look New Reading series and our fall production. Working closely with key staff, the Production Intern will contribute toward overall planning, marketing, and artist communication.   All of our work is new, making an internship at Moving Arts an extremely different experience than working at a theatre that produces plays that have been produced before. We are always working without a road map. Our intern will get to be a part of the first time a play gets done. They can say, ‘I worked on launching that play.’   How to work with living breathing playwrights is another experience an intern will gain from their time with us. Much like theatre is teaching the world about the human condition, the creation of a new play will teach someone about the art of collaboration and creation.  This position will work approximately 15- 20 hours a week, June through November, 2024.

Qualifications

Competitive candidates for our Production Internship will have:  - A passion for theater, and a working knowledge or interest in new plays. - An interest in developing and producing new work - Experience and/or strong interest in marketing for the arts. - Interest in writing for or about theatre. - Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular). - Proficiency in Google Office Suite (gmail, google sheets, drive, calendar, meet apps). - Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work. - Attention to detail and problem solving skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask. - Positive attitude and willingness to do tasks that are both large and small.
