Arts Leadership Initiative (ALI)
Participants in the Arts Leadership Initiative (ALI) have access to a variety of learning opportunities to assist them in developing their skills and understanding their roles as leaders in their organization. In addition to OGP workshops and scholarship opportunities offered to all grantees, those participants in the ALI program also participate in an Executive Learning Group program and receive a leadership development grant for study and consultancies. For the leadership development grant, several leaders each year are selected to participate in National Art Strategies Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders-Arts (EPNL-Arts), a collaborative program with the Stanford University School of Business and National Arts Strategies (NAS). For more information on this nation-wide program in which participants must be nominated by local funders, please visit the National Arts Strategies website at: www.artstrategies.org Applications to participate in ALI are available in August. The program begins in October. The goal of this program is to develop a deeper level of leadership within the arts community in Los Angeles, while also connecting leaders of arts organizations in more meaningful ways. In fiscal year 2005/06 ten executive leaders from organizations with budgets greater than $1 million were selected to participate in coach training. These leaders then provide coaching to ten leaders of other arts organizations within the Arts Commissions OGP II and 2.5 grant programs. OGP II and 2.5 leaders are invited to participate by applications in September.
