Project DescriptionAntelope Valley Art Outpost (Outpost) is a creative placemaking project that leverages community and cultural assets to create artist-driven projects that support regional vitality. The project focuses on the unincorporated communities of Littlerock and Sun Village. Two artist-in-residence, Heidi Duckler Dance Theater and Robin Rosenthal were selected to work with local residents to develop creative projects an programs that activated underutilized sites in each community. Projects include community dance workshops and performances, a documentary filmmaking club and film festival.Phase 3 continues with Robin Rosenthal's temporary mural project to activate the business corridor of Pearblossom Highway; Larissa Nickels' Artist Field Guide to Llano and event; and signage for the historic Shaw Building. The project is funded by 0,000 in grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the California Arts Council. To date, additional in-kind contributions include ,000 from Lancaster Museum of Art and History and ,000 from Metabolic Studios and support from Supervisor Kathryn Barger of LA County Fifth District.
