The Department of Regional Planning is redesigning its headquarters on the 13th floor of the LA County Hall of Records, a fifteen-story structure example of mid-century modernist architecture. The building was designed by Richard Neutra and Robert Alexander in collaboration with sculptor Malcolm Leland and is eligible for State and National Historical Registries. The Civic Art Division has identified the artwork location in the main lobby. It aims to commission a site-specific artwork that will embrace the history and current efforts of the Department, celebrating past and present communities of LA County.
