The American Youth Symphony's mission is to inspire the future of classical music by providing landmark fellowships to virtuosic young adults and exceptional, innovative, and free concerts to the Los Angeles community. Competitively selected, our orchestra is comprised of 100 musicians who represent extraordinary talent from all over the world.
The Development Intern with the American Youth Symphony will have the opportunity to focus on fundraising strategies for the 2019/20 season by working with our administrative support staff that supports our 100 orchestra musicians. The Intern will help to strategize and implement a membership campaign for the 2019/20 season. In addition, they will be responsible for tracking and planning the cultivation of donors through tracking our 53-year alumni as well as managing the Executive Director’s Major Gifts portfolio. This position is ideal for a classical music enthusiast who is looking to gain experience in communication and fundraising.
The Development Intern must be someone with a passion for supporting orchestral music in Los Angeles. The Intern should be friendly and outgoing, and demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and resourcefulness in working effectively on multiple tasks. They should also have excellent verbal communication as well as possess creativity, strong writing and grammatical proofreading skills, and a collaborative approach and commitment to teamwork. Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite is required, experience
with fundraising databases such as Salesforce or Tessitura are preferred but not mandatory.
