Angels Gate Cultural Center (AGCC) provides (1) services to professional artists (2) innovative public arts programming, including exhibitions of local, national and international artists (3) high-quality arts education for children in the Los Angeles Harbor Region and (4) community classes in all art forms serving children and adults. AGCC will continue to provide the quality arts programming to over 15,000 visitors each year that has served the community for the past 35 years.
The Angels Gate Multi-disciplinary Arts Intern will organize and implement a gallery exhibition, as well as help to enhance and promote all education programs at Angels Gate Cultural Center. The intern will also participate in the planning of summer and fall exhibitions and programming. Angels Gate Cultural Center is a medium-sized, community-based, interdisciplinary arts center that provides free and affordable access to the arts in the largely low-to-moderate income working-class communities of the San Pedro and Los Angeles Harbor Region. Striving to provide the Southern California community with year-round schedule of gallery exhibitions and community classes. In addition, the Center provides professional work-studio space for 52 artists, including musicians, ceramists, painters, sculptors, writers, photographers, printmakers and jewelers.
A successful candidate will have an enthusiasm for the arts and a passion for bringing high quality performing arts to an underserved area. Some experience or knowledge of arts programming, public relations and marketing is preferred.Computer literacy is important, Angels Gate Cultural Center uses Mac computers exclusively. We will look for experience with MS Office, including spreadsheets and word documents. We will also expect a familiarity with online social media tools.The intern will need reliable transportation, as Angels Gate Cultural Center is not easily accessible via public transportation. Since Angels Gate Cultural Center is a former military base and historic site, accessibility in some areas of the campus will present a challenge.
