Description

Arts for LA’s Organizing and Communications Intern is a hybrid position designed to give a student a glimpse into advocacy work and the unique ways Arts for LA supports the arts and culture sector. Students should apply for this internship if they are interested in engaging with an established member-base of arts advocates, and cultivating individuals who might not be aware of the opportunity to engage. Furthermore, this position would be best suited for someone interested in developing their marketing and communication skills. An internship with Arts for LA allows an individual a unique overview of the arts and culture field across Los Angeles County through engaging with government arts departments, large museums, small performance organizations, individual artists, and more. This is a fully remote position that will work from November to March at about 31 hours per week.

Qualifications

Required Skills: Highly organized, able to work independently Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to write succinct, clear educational materials Ability to research policy issues and distill information into accessible language - ability to interface with public and engage new community members Familiarity with Canva, Adobe InDesign or any graphic design software strongly preferred Familiarity with website editing programs (WordPress, Square Space, etc.) strongly preferred Public speaking experience a plus Understanding of current social media uses and trends Experience with social media for businesses is a plus Experience marketing for a specific program or campaign is a plus
