Established in 1970, The Canyon Theatre Guild is the oldest and largest non-profit arts organization in Santa Clarita and is dedicated to serving our community with high-quality, popular theatre including Regional Broadway musicals, comedies, dramas, and family theatre. Each season serves over 30,000 theatre-goers, and yearly educational programs serve over 500 students as participants and thousands as audience members.
The intern will act as an assistant instructor to the lead instructor for two/two-week sessions of our “CTG Kids” Summer Musical theatre workshops. Duties will include assisting with acting instruction, directing, costume development, technical production, and theatre exercises. The intern will then act as the lead instructor for the final (third) session of the workshop. The CTG will provide an assistant instructor for this session. Additionally, the intern will assist the Box Office Manager and staff where they will assist with customer service, ticketing and reservation skills, updating attendance records clerical duties and rudimentary budget details. <br/>Both sections of internship duties will be overseen by our Youth Programs Administrator who will interface with the “CTG Kids” Lead Instructor and the Box Office Manager and will meet weekly with the Intern.<br/>
Ideally, the applicant will be enthusiastic, energetic, dependable, and self-motivated. The intern must have leadership qualities, good communication and organizational skills, and be a team player. The intern must also enjoy working with young children and the general public. The intern ideally should be able to sing on key and have some experience in live theatre productions and improvisational exercises. Music training is a plus. A basic understanding of theatre tech is useful. Good understanding of customer service is useful as a part of each day will involve telephone and face-to-face interaction with theatre patrons and workshop parents., Also useful: basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel. Must have own car. Applicant will need to be fingerprinted.
