Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre (HDDT) is a site-specific dance company that creates innovative dance experiences in non-traditional places and provides learning opportunities in diverse neighborhoods, inviting audiences and artists to engage with one another and connect with their communities in ways they have never experienced.
The Communications & Engagement Intern will support the Communications Manager and Managing Director with coordinating HDD’s community engagement programs. These programs include our residencies at the Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital/Charles Drew University Campus (Saturday Scientist Program and Foster Up Program), Move Me Workshops at Culver City, Unsettling Ramona workshops and salons, Women Vets on Point at LA Arboretum, and Summer Dance Lab Workshops for Professionals. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting with outreach and communications with partners, collaborators, community centers and other nonprofits, recruiting and training teaching artists, as well as researching new partnerships, cross- promotions and project opportunities. Additionally, the Communications & Engagement Intern will assist in fundraising campaigns and donor relations. The intern will also assist with clerical duties and general office support related to the programs, database management and box office assistance at community programs and events. This position will be remote until it is safe to return to the office, and will work between 16-32 hours a week.
- Comfortable communicating with diverse groups of people
- Excellent writing skills
- Bi-lingual (Spanish/English)
- Mac and/or PC proficient
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office and Google Drive applications
- Event programming experience preferred but not required
- Performing Arts experience preferred but not required.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
