CONTRA-TIEMPO is a bold, multilingual Los Angeles-based dance company creating physically intense and politically astute performance work that moves audiences to imagine what is possible. We create a new physical, visual and sonic vocabulary that collages Salsa, Afro-Cuban, hip-hop, and contemporary dance with theater, compelling text, and original music. We intentionally engage diverse audiences, cultivate dancer leaders, and center stories not traditionally heard on the concert stage.
The Administrative and Program Intern will perform a diverse array of tasks to assist a Latinx/Afro-diasporic social justice dance company in successfully managing general operations, documenting and codifying dance pedagogy, and documenting and preserving a large body of past dance work.
Candidates should have a sincere (and hopefully demonstrated) interest in work at the intersection of arts and social justice—specifically within an anti-racism context; and a commitment to engaging in an organizational culture that calls on people to be their fullest, most compassionate selves. An interest in performing arts and arts education is also highly desirable.
