Culture Shock LA is a nonprofit dance company that utilizes Hip Hop and urban dance culture to create education, enrichment and entertainment programs that inspire positive change in the communities it serves.
Culture Shock LA is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual to work with our team to advance our programs and marketing communications. The Program and Communications Intern will work collaboratively with our Executive and Company Directors to support our efforts to provide impactful arts education programs to local youth. This will involve capturing youth outcomes by helping to develop sustainable and effective systems of assessment and measurement for our arts education programs, and also providing input regarding revision of our standards based dance curricula. Our intern will also assist in the development of a yearlong communications plan for 2019-2020, which will inform the development of a comprehensive set of communications/ marketing materials. They will play a vital role and have a major voice in influencing our branding efforts and online presence.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in arts education programs, non-profit management and will be able to take direction on projects and run with them. This requires a self-starter with enthusiasm, strong communication and time management skills, and the ability to work well independently. Candidates should have a desire to learn about the L.A. arts and culture landscape and passion for using the arts to make a positive impact on the community. Applicants should have strong writing skills, experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms. Experience with photo and/or video editing software and graphics programs are also a plus.
