Center for the Arts Eagle Rock (CFAER) is Northeast Los Angeles's premiere multidisciplinary arts presenter. Housed in a historic Carnegie library building in Eagle Rock, CFAER serves as a dynamic cultural hub providing access to transformative arts enrichment and education for the entire Northeast Los Angeles community. The organization is particularly committed to serving and engaging with the area's low-income and underserved residents, at-risk youth, and critical mass of working artists.
The Multidisciplinary Arts Education Intern will assist Center for the Arts Eagle Rock (CFAER) in designing and delivering high-quality community arts education programs to diverse audiences of all ages. Programs include CFAER’s Summer Art Camp and multidisciplinary Arts Workshops, as well as its standards-based Afterschool Arts: Imagine Studio program offered in local Northeast LA elementary and middle schools. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated individual enthusiastic about the arts and arts education to help CFAER deliver high-impact arts experiences, while also gaining hands-on program design and classroom delivery experience.
The Multidisciplinary Arts Education Intern position requires a highly motivated individual to provide hands-on assistance. Applicants should have a strong interest in working with children and youth to deliver innovative, multidisciplinary community arts education programming, as well as an enthusiasm about meeting the arts education needs of CFAER’s diverse communities. The ability to clearly and effectively communicate, with co-workers as well as with children, parents, and other community members, is required. Additional helpful knowledge includes: a strong understanding of the city’s arts community; interest in the arts; and an appreciation for multicultural and inclusive community programs that are designed to serve people from all walks of life. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, computer, and Internet skills are vital to success in this position. Writing experience, photographic skills, and basic design skills are a plus.
