Education Through Music-Los Angeles (ETM-LA) is a non-profit whose mission is to provide and promote the integration of music into the curricula of disadvantaged schools in order to enhance students' academic performance and creative and general development. ETM-LA is dedicated to providing disadvantaged LA County schools with quality, comprehensive, sequential and standards-based music education as part of the core curriculum for every child.
The Communications Intern will work for a 10-week period with the Executive Director, Director of Development, and Communications Associate to develop, enhance, and present a communications plan for the organization by researching model communications plans and working to tailor them to our organization’s needs. The creation of this plan will inform how the intern will build a suite of key communications materials for use in our organization’s 2019-2020 publicity and outreach efforts.
The intern should display an earnest interest in music and music education and must be highly organized, detail-oriented and dependable. Interest in Communications/PR, graphic design, and writing is favorable for this position. Basic computer skills, such as Excel and Word, as well as advanced knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, will be necessary. A positive attitude, initiative taker, team-player, interest in the education field, motivation, and desire to learn about music education in Los Angeles are also a must.
