Since 1980, Film Independent has championed creative independence in visual storytelling and supported a community of artists who embody diversity, innovation and uniqueness of vision. Through our Artist Development and Education programs, we help filmmakers make their movies, build audiences for their work and promote underrepresented filmmakers. We produce the Spirit Awards, a celebration of the best artist-driven films, the LA Film Festival and the year-round series Film Independent at LACMA.
Reporting to the Digital Content Manager, the Video Content Production Intern will have the opportunity to work at one of the nation’s premiere film arts nonprofits. The intern will shoot and edit video for Film Independent’s YouTube channel at our various events, including the year-round screening series Film Independent Presents. Additional duties may include shooting, editing and uploading videos for Film Independent’s various marketing needs, organizing digital files and Film Independent’s archival YouTube videos (this may entail adjusting thumbnails and video tags) and organizing inventory equipment. Schedule to include some nights and weekends.
Applicants should have basic photography, videography and nonlinear editing skills. Knowledge of Sony 5D camera, Adobe Premiere and prior experience creating content for YouTube are a plus. Applicants must be comfortable using Mac platforms and should possess a friendly and professional office demeanor. Knowledge of and interest in the world of film is helpful. Prior event coverage experience is preferred. Reliable access to a car is required as the intern will participate in on-location shoots.
