The Ford Theatres is one of the oldest and most historically significant performing arts venues in LA. Located in a 32-acre County park, the Ford is operated by LA County through a partnership between the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Ford Theatre Foundation. The Ford presents diverse music and dance events reflective of the communities that comprise LA County. Ford programs nurture artists, organizations and audiences through initiatives that encourage arts participation.
Ford Theatres in Hollywood is in search of a Marketing & Communications Intern to help fulfill its mission of supporting artistic expression and innovation and of providing access to exemplary arts and culture experiences representative of our multifaceted communities, which deepen human connections and broaden cultural understanding. The Ford is a 1,200-seat multidisciplinary performing arts venue that presents an eclectic season of music, dance, theatre, film and family events from June through October. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with experienced communications and marketing professionals in a diverse and inclusive environment, cultivate relationships with artists and community members, and successfully promote events at a multidisciplinary performing arts venue.
Required Experience/Education/Skills//Major (must have classes) to demonstrate: Desirable qualifications include a background or interest in marketing, public relations and/or journalism; robust knowledge of social media platforms; interest in the performing and visual arts; ability to write; fluency in oral and written Spanish is a plus. Possible majors include, but are not limited to, communications, journalism, marketing, arts administration, or a related field. Essential qualities and abilities: Consistent attention to detail and accuracy; ability to stay organized and meet deadlines; ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment; ability to use Window-based computer and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint; familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; ability to be proactive and plan ahead. Candidate must be honest, reliable, and possess enthusiasm and dedication for the arts and the task at hand. Required Oral and Written Communication Skills: The candidate must be able to present both oral and written information in a poised, persuasive, and professional manner; possess the ability to work both collaboratively and independently; and be able to successfully interact effectively with a wide variety of people on-and off-site.
