The Ford Theatres is one of the oldest and most historically significant performing arts venues in LA. Located in a 32-acre County park, the Ford is operated by LA County through a partnership between the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Ford Theatre Foundation. Description

The program intern will provide critical event coordination support for the Ford Theatres’ 2019 season, including but not limited to its community engagement program JAM Sessions (free, interactive arts experiences led by professional artists) and its Big World Fun family series (hour-long music and dance performances for children ages 4 to 12 and their families). The program intern will also play a key role in supporting two new Ford programs, IGNITE On The Zev and IGNITE On Stage at the Ford, which offer opportunities for more intimate, experimental, and interactive arts events.

Qualifications

Candidates should have strong time management and organizational skills; outstanding written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills and work especially well in engaging a diverse range of artists and patrons, including families and children. Fluency in Spanish is highly valued but not required. Must be self-motivated, flexible, work well under pressure and be proactive in problem solving. Successful candidates will be extremely reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Candidates should also be proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook and have the willingness and ability to learn new software programs. The work schedule is arranged to keep the work week at 40 hours. As part of this work schedule, the intern must be available to work evenings and weekend events. Must have reliable form of transportation.
