McGroarty Arts Center provides access to the arts through in-depth art instruction and experiences. Affordable or free multidisciplinary art instruction is offered to at-risk youth, children, and families, as are performances, exhibitions, and events that engage the greater public. McGroarty Arts Centers' mission to artists is to connect often-isolated practitioners with professional opportunities, audiences, and each other in an effort to weave together a vibrant artistic community.
The Summer Special Events Intern will help plan and produce temporary art exhibitions, free concerts, nonprofit fundraisers, and other special events. Duties will include marketing events to artists and audiences, managing social media, and overseeing guest hospitality. The position allows the intern to oversee his or her own projects from start to finish while exposing him or her to the myriad other tasks other staff perform to make a multidisciplinary arts center successful.
The successful candidate must be interested in community arts programming. He or she must be able to work independently as well as cooperatively and possess excellent writing and speaking skills. Previous experience in marketing, public relations, or social media is preferred but not required.
