The Gabriella Foundation's (TGF) Mission is to transform the lives of underserved youth in Los Angeles through high-quality dance education. Our dance program, everybody dance!, provides year-round, high-quality, sequential dance school-day and after-school instruction for 3,750 children and youth ages 4 to 19.
Throughout the 10-week internship, the intern will support every aspect of planning and producing a high-quality arts education summer program. The intern will work closely with the Artistic Director and the Program & Operations Coordinator to plan, produce and direct a three week, full-day dance camp called SummerDance which serves low-resource children ages 6-11 years old. Duties will include assisting with registration, organizing camp materials, creating and collecting student pre/post surveys, and stage managing the SummerDance end of camp showings. In addition to these responsibilities, the Arts Education Intern will also be responsible for executing successful visual art classes each day for campers. The intern will also learn how to create a curriculum and select appropriate art projects for students based on age groups. Youth who participate in SummerDance will be eligible to participate in the Fall everybody dance! afterschool program. The intern will also assist the Artistic Director and the Program & Operations Coordinator with the parent orientation events and the student registration process for the Fall program. Additionally, the intern will support the programming department in acting as an extra set of hands during our preparation for our end-of year recital and gala event.
Ideally, the applicant will have experience with visual arts and crafts, some knowledge of dance, and be enthusiastic, energetic, and dependable. The intern must have leadership qualities, good communication and organizational skills, and be a team player. Previous experience working with youth is mandatory. Also useful is an understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel. Bi-lingual Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply.
