Get Lit-Words Ignite seeks an Education Program Intern for summer 2020 to work with our Education & Pedagogy Advisor in the operations of our youth empowerment and literacy organization. They will help to coordinate and execute summer programs for teen poets and will assist in composing and editing annual curriculum materials for the fall school semester programs. This position will be on site in our office, but the hours are flexible based, on the intern's schedule.
We expect all applicants to have a knowledge and appreciation of classic and contemporary poetry, basic computer skills, have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and be familiar with Mac operating systems. The right candidate should also be comfortable working in a professional setting and have an interest in teaching as well as literary and/or performing arts. Other skills that would be useful in this position include proofreading skills, event management, and an ability to communicate professionally and effectively with a wide range of people including teenagers, parents of students, professional staff members, and organization Board Members.
