Grand Vision's (GVF) mission is to engage the LA Harbor community through culturally inclusive arts experiences centered on the Warner Grand Theater (WGT) and the 150-seat Grand Annex in San Pedro. GVF was formed to save the WGT, a beloved movie palace, and create a hub for the arts in the Harbor Area. Today, GVF's primary projects are the Grand Annex Concert Series; Meet the Music, an 18-month music curriculum for 1,500 local elementary school students; and promotional support for the WGT.

The Social Media intern will work closely with the Marketing Coordinator and meet regularly with the Artistic Director (following all required social distancing guidelines throughout the internship period). The Intern will primarily spend their time implementing our social media marketing plan for 2020-21 Grand Vision events and Grand Annex concerts. The intern will put our existing production plan into action with content-rich social media postings, as well as work with the Special Event & Archives intern to create posts for 2021 events at the Warner Grand Theater. The Social Media intern will also assist with writing press releases, artists’ bios, and website content, including basic graphic design. This position requires considerable online research, a sense of creative marketing, and the ability to synthesize information into short engaging posts. This will be the fifth year we have requested support for a Social Media Intern. It has become an essential part of our marketing plan. For young strategists in marketing, business or production it is an opportunity to learn about the relationship between social media and audience demographics, audience motivations, and purchasing trends. This is a partly remote position working about 22 hours a week from August to December.

Qualifications

This intern position is ideal for a marketing, journalism, public relations, music business, communications or other academically well-rounded student. The ideal candidate will have interests and/or experience in marketing and social media and live music event promotion. A high level of oral and written communication skills are mandatory as are basic computer skills including the Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and fluency with standard social media platforms. Experience with video-editing or graphic programs Photoshop and/or InDesign is a plus. The best candidate will be able to balance multiple projects and be a resourceful and innovative thinker. Must be able to work independently.
