Grand Vision's (GVF) mission is to engage the LA Harbor community through culturally inclusive arts experiences centered on the Warner Grand Theater (WGT) and the 150-seat Grand Annex in San Pedro. GVF was formed to save the WGT, a beloved movie palace, and create a hub for the arts in the Harbor Area. Today, GVF's primary projects are the Grand Annex Concert Series; Meet the Music, an 18-month music curriculum for 1,500 local elementary school students; and promotional support for the WGT.

Description

Throughout 2021, Grand Vision will be presenting and co-presenting a series of public and ticketed events to recognize the historic Warner Grand Theatre’s 90th Anniversary. The 2020 Special Events & Archives Intern will work closely with the Executive Director and the Artistic Director (following all required social distancing guidelines throughout the internship period) to assist with event planning and virtual and/or actual public history exhibits and activities. For these projects, the intern’s primary responsibilities will be to assist in all aspects of creating the Warner Grand Theatre’s 90th Anniversary Celebrations including but not limited to:

  • Budget development
  • Event planning
  • Production - virtual and/or actual.

Further development of online access to digital archival material selection of printed materials, ephemera and interactive concepts for Anniversary exhibits and activities and Social Media promotion. This is a partly remote position working about 22 hours a week from August to December.

Qualifications

This intern position is ideal for a history, business, public relations, communications, or other academically well-rounded student with high level communication and computer skills. The ideal candidate will have interests and/or experience in the study of history, community development, information management, and/or website technology. A high level of oral and written communication skills are mandatory as are a fluency of basic computer skills (including word, excel, Google Docs/Sheets). Website management experience is a plus. The best candidate will be able to balance multiple projects and be a resourceful researcher and innovative thinker. Must be able to work independently.
