The Harmony Project uses the power of music to engage, empower, and foster the positive development of low-income youth, ages 6-18. Our mission is unique in that we commit to students for their entire childhood (k-12), providing year-round music instruction and orchestra playing, consistent and positive adult and peer mentors, family support, and college incentives.
The Program Intern will assist in the coordination and implementation of The Harmony Project’s three-to-four week summer programs, as well as in the preparation/planning for Fall 2019 programming across LA County (14 program sites). Duties will include assisting the Chief Program Officer, Program Managers, and the Program Assistants with class scheduling, engaging students, communicating with families, collecting student data, and event organization. The intern will also assist with clerical duties, attendance reports and data entry.
Ideally, the Program Intern will have strong written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects and comply with deadlines. The ideal candidate will also possess creativity, enthusiasm for learning, and an outgoing, friendly demeanor. The ability to work independently as well as with staff, volunteers, students, and the general public is essential. Computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Docs are necessary. Database experience, a musical background, and fluency in Spanish are all highly desired but not required.
