Highways develops and presents innovative, socially engaged art that challenges the dominant sexual, psychological and political paradigms of contemporary American society. Our programs explore relevant social, political and artistic issues, promote interactions among people of diverse cultural identities and foster critical dialogues among artists and the communities they serve.
The Administration Intern will gain invaluable career inexperience woking with the Directors and staff of an internationally recognized performance art center in the planning and implementation of Behold! Highways' 30th Anniversary event, an eight-week series of new performance works, showcasing works by recently emerging artists alongside art and political luminaries such as Patrisse Cullors Kahn (co-founder Black Lives Matter), Tim Miller (performance artist), and Sean Dorsey (celebrated FTM choreographer).
As a vital staff member, the Intern will work directly with the Executive Director (ED) and receive valuable hands-on training in arts administration from the perspective of the ED.
