Independent Shakespeare Co. is a professional theater company known for our "freewheeling irreverence and classical precision" (LA Times). We serve the community of Los Angeles with great theater at the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival (an entire summer of free theater and events presented free to audiences), indoors at our Studio and in the community with education and partnership programs.
The Audience Engagement Intern will play a key support role for the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival, an entire summer of classical theater presented free to thousands of Angelenos. Duties will include preparing, maintaining and organizing the elements used to communicate to audiences and the public, interacting directly with audience members to ensure they have a positive experience. The intern will liaise with and coordinate special community engagement events, including promoting these events. The intern will be on-site for as an ISC ambassador and at all special events scheduled throughout the summer.
The intern must possess strong interpersonal skills, be a team player and a self-starter. The intern should possess a strong interest in audience engagement, marketing, the performing arts, and a desire to learn about all aspects of event marketing. Knowledge and competency with customer relations and computer skills (Microsoft Office, social media platforms, organization tools like Hootsuite) and an interest in theater is a plus.
The intern should be collaborative, flexible, positive, and enthusiastic, be able to problem-solve and not be afraid to get their hands dirty.
The intern should be able to learn quickly, to speak knowledgeably about ISC’s programs, and to maintain a sunny disposition when interacting with audience members.
