Proclaimed “America’s finest chamber orchestra” by Public Radio International, LACO is among the world’s top musical ensembles. The Development Intern will have a unique opportunity to be part of this outstanding organization and gain an understanding of the intricacies of fund development for nonprofits, a field with many employment opportunities. This position will work approximately 20 hours a week from September 2021 through January 2022 at the downtown LA office and/or remotely.
Applicants should be pursuing a degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Fundraising, Communications or a similar field. The position will require computer literacy, networking skills and self-motivation. LACO has an organizational mandate to be engaged in the widest array of communities that comprise Los Angeles County, and to bring the beauty and stimulation of live concert music (classical and modern) to audiences of all types. It maintains a robust fund development slate of activities including outreach to individual, governmental, foundation, testamentary and institutional funders. Its newly approved Cultural Equity, Inclusivity and Accessibility Plan mandates active and respectful engagement with communities that are traditional supporters of music performance as well as those who do not have a history or tradition of such attendance.
