Description

The Ford Theatre Intern will assist in planning and implementing the John Anson Ford Theatre’s Centennial season programming, building relationships with local artists and community organizations, manage the Ford’s sharepoint site for artists/performers, and adapt the Ford’s Professional Development program for artists using survey feedback. They will interface with other departments including Presentations, Production, and IT. Through this internship, the intern will gain a wider understanding of the arts ecosystem in Los Angeles and learn the ins and outs of presenting musical and other cross-disciplinary performances. This position will work approximately 30 hours per week from July through October 2021.

Qualifications

Must be highly organized, accurate and detail-oriented. Must be reliable and dependable, as well as focused and self-motivated. Knowledge of orchestral music and music reading skills. Should possess strong oral and written communication skills. Works well in a high-pressure, fast-paced corporate environment. Able to work cooperatively in a shared work space. Ability to work with diverse personalities. Spanish language proficiency preferred, not required. Should be a team player with the ability to remain calm under pressure. Must be computer literate (Word, Access, Excel, Outlook.) Should have an ambition to learn about music education. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with excellent judgment and discretion.

Background

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association was founded in 1919 and is currently led by the visionary Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, who became its eleventh Music Director in 2009. The LA Phil serves more than one million people annually through 300 classical, jazz, world music, and pop concert offerings at Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. In addition, the LA Phil serves approximately 100,000 children and their families each year through Learning initiatives.
