The Madison Project is the presenting non-profit at the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage at Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center. The Madison Project offers the general public a broad spectrum of multicultural programs and performing arts genres, featuring artists from the local community, the nation and around the world. Programming includes high-level professional productions in dance, theater, voice recitals, chamber orchestra, film, lectures, education and outreach programs, among others.

Description

The Marketing Internship at The Broad Stage will support the development of tailored strategies to promote performances in the 2019/20 season at The Broad Stage, as well as the growth of The Broad Stage brand more generally. The Marketing Intern will assist with reporting on historical sales and future sales projections, researching artist biographies to inform promotional efforts, editing copy for print and online materials, organizing marketing collateral from past campaigns, updating website using a basic CMS system, and editing images in Adobe Photoshop for sizing and file format changes. Interdepartmental interaction is a primary focus of an internship at The Broad Stage and the Intern will be working closely with all other departments to prepare promotional efforts for the 2019/20 season.

Qualifications

The applicant should be a self-starter who, with direction, can work independently on definable projects. He/she must also have the ability to work with a team and meet deadlines. Applicant should have good people and communication skills, basic experience with Word and Excel spreadsheets, and be familiar with varied research techniques. Applicant should have ability to summarize and draft minutes as well as help devise action plans and timelines. A strong interest in artistic and business administration, development, marketing, artists contracts and negotiation, theater operations and patron services, education and community programs as well as experience in event management is helpful. Knowledge of classical and modern theater, music, and dance is also useful.
