NAVEL seeks a Community Program Intern who will work closely with the NAVEL team on the following NAVEL programs and activities: NOW WHAT? (our ongoing digital and IRL platform for new works, gatherings, and happenings by NAVEL Collective Residents and Members launching in early 2021), our participation in 3HD Festival 2021, revamping community space usage and facilities, and ongoing NAVEL Member activities and events. This position will work 400 hours of employment from September 2021 through March 2022 (an average of 20 hours/week). The intern will ideally work from the NAVEL space 2x per week, but may work from home up to 50% of the time if so desired.

1611 S Hope Street , 2nd Floor, Los Angeles, California, 90015

A good candidate will be detail-oriented and a self starter, eager to learn the inner workings of a nimble, intimate team in an ever evolving organization. Candidates with an interest in new models for cultural production, non-hierarchical decision making and curation, and developing experimental, multidisciplinary and subversive projects in a caring, member-focused community are especially encouraged to apply. The Community Program Intern will have opportunities to directly interact with NAVEL members, residents, participants, and organizers, and should feel comfortable communicating with folks from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.

NAVEL creates opportunities for artists, thinkers and makers to ignite our collective imaginaries, expanding our capacity to cooperate and co-create in holistic, sustainable, and emergent ways. From our collaboratively-run warehouse space in downtown Los Angeles, we support a community of artists and agitators to get the resources they need to do the work they want. Through membership, programs and events, we bring people together to engage and experiment with caring and collaborative ways of thinking, being, organizing, and making. Since 2017, we have provided 150 free or low-cost cultural programs and events to more than 15,000 community members, featuring close to 300 artists, thinkers, and makers.
