The Communications Intern will work closely with Betty Avila, our Executive Director and Jennifer Cuevas our Communications Consultant to assist in the overall social media and web communications strategy for the Fall of 2020, including our annual Día de los Muertos season, Holiday Marketplace, and year-end fundraising campaign. The intern will create a social media and marketing calendar and working document that will map the events and programs of the organization and provide them with a roadmap or editorial calendar from which they will work. They will also produce blog posts for the SHG website that support the overall marketing calendar. Additional communications skills learned by interns include documenting events through photography and video and how to conduct interviews. This is a remote position that may tranistion back into the office once it is safe to do so. The intern will work between 15-25 hours a week from September through February.
Interns should know (or be willing to learn) AP writing style, how to operate a camera and be well versed in social media applications.
