Seeking an intern with a love of theater and an interest in the various kinds of work required to run a professional theater, including technical production, program management, and arts marketing. Intern will work with SMP’s Managing Coordinator, Technical Director, and Stage Manager on the theater’s summer and fall 2022 productions. Intern will also provide support for SMP’s arts education and community engagement programs. This position will work approximately 20 hours a week (on a schedule of 4-6 hours per day worked) from July to November 2022. Must have an interest in theater and be willing to learn and work in different aspects of professional theater operations and programming. Strong writing and organizational skills required. Preferred qualifications include working knowledge of various social media platforms, design software such as Canva or Photoshop, and administrative and data management tools including Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Experience with arts marketing, community engagement, and/or arts education programming a plus. Technical production work often involves climbing ladders, crawling into small spaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs. – these abilities are not required, but should be considered by applicant. Intern must be able to work in the US and meet all requirements determined by the LA County Arts Internship Program.
