Description

Help launch a new play and support ongoing play development at a professional intimate theatre with national and Off Broadway productions. You’ll work at the center of a collaborative team that creates opportunities for diverse artists and shapes theatre that’s challenging, imaginative, relevant and inclusive on stage and online. This intern will work approximatley 15-20 hours a week from August through December 2021.

Qualifications

The PRODUCTION INTERN must possess strong interpersonal skills, be a self-starter that is flexible and collaborative, and be an excellent communicator with a positive attitude. The position requires an aptitude for problem solving, multi-tasking, and time management, along with an understanding of how a play is produced (prior stage management experience is preferred). To be successful the Intern will need an ability to take detailed notes, then organize, coordinate and follow-through on tasks to ensure that deadlines are met. They need to be able to communicate clearly in writing and not hesitate to call people on the phone. Good office skills and solid computer skills are a must, including Microsoft Word and Excel; OBS streaming software experience a plus. Evening, weekday, and weekend hours are required, as is reliable transportation that allows you to run errands or work at multiple locations.

With a Pulitzer Finalist and Tony Award nominated playwright on staff, and two plays originating at Skylight performed Off Broadway since 2017, the nationally recognized and award-winning Skylight Theatre is considered a “powerhouse of new play development.” By focusing on stories and artists that reflect LA’s rich diversity of culture, ethnicity and experiences, Skylight utilizes entertainment to spark conversation and promote social change.
