The Theatre Of Hearts INC was established as a nonprofit corporation in 1987. Its mission is to promote understanding between people through cultural and artistic forums and to empower local communities through education in the arts. The mission of Youth First AIR Program, initiated in 1992, is to prevent and intervene in youth violence by providing ongoing, high quality, standards-based, multidisciplinary arts education workshops for youth throughout Los Angeles County.
The Theatre Of Hearts/Youth First (TOHYF) Program Intern (PI) will have an opportunity to directly handle and learn all aspects of arts education and administration in a mid-level non-profit organization. The PI will be given the liberty to take on a management role in coordinating arts education programming in a non-profit organization with 30-year history of success. TOHYF has been recognized as a leader in the fields of arts education programming for performing arts disciplines; including music, dance, theater/storytelling, and spoken word. The PI will have the hands-on experience of designing and implementing standards-based performing arts programming from inception to completion. This is an onsite position, and our hope is that our intern will work full time hours during the summer and then switch to part time hours, beginning in the fall, for the duration of the program hours.
Must have car, current valid driver’s license, and be able to pass a background check. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills required. Fluency with Mac OS X 10, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and social media required. Familiarity with Word Press and FileMaker Pro preferred. Be organized, punctual, detail-oriented, and have the ability to multi-task.
