Future art leaders and advocates will gain meaningful on-the-job training in a successful non-profit arts education organization through the Theatre Of Hearts/Youth First Program Internship. By the end of the internship, students will better understand the role of arts in the community along with how to implement standards-based quality performing arts education programming. Interns will have a positive impact through participating in fulfilling our mission, to prevent youth violence by involving youth in multi-disciplinary performing arts workshops provided throughout Los Angeles County. The internship is anticipated to begin June 2021 with approximately 20-30 intern hours per week with room for adjustments as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please note, this is a program/administrative position, not a teaching position.
The Theatre of Hearts/Youth First Program Intern will ideally possess the following qualifications:
- Strong reading, writing, and proofreading skills
- Strong communication skills
- Organized self-starter
- Active interest in arts education and program administration
- Ability to do internet research and report findings
- Organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work well will staff and volunteers
- Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with Word Press, Adobe Photoshop, and FileMaker Pro preferred
Requirements: Must have a reliable car, current driver's license, and be able to pass a background and TB test.
Theatre Of Hearts, Inc. established in 1987, serves the Los Angeles community through a mission to promote understanding between people through cultural and artistic forums and to empower local communities through education in the arts. Beginning in 1992, the mission of the Youth First Artist-In-Residence (AIR) Program is to prevent and intervene in youth violence by providing ongoing, high-quality, standards-based, multidisciplinary arts education programs for youth throughout Los Angeles County.
