VIVER BRASIL, a Los Angeles based company founded in 1997, honors Brazil's African legacy through bold contemporary dance theatre that increases awareness of the rich history and culture from which Afro-Brazilian dance and music emerged through performances, arts education, community engagement, and cultural exchange between Los Angeles County and Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
The Archive Intern will play an integral role working closely with the Executive and Artistic Director of Viver Brasil to continue to implement an archive infrastructure for organizing historical documents and digitizing images, video, and documents among other tasks. The intern will also work closely with the Executive Director to develop marketing strategies to begin sharing these archive materials with the larger community.
The ideal candidate must have a passion for the arts, knowledge of Google Apps, research, design, with a working knowledge of Adobe Suite is desirable. A background in the performing or dance arts is highly desirable, but not required. Interest in Brazilian or African diasporic dance and music is also helpful but not required. Other assets include experience with marketing and social media, good written and oral communication skills, and a desire to work with nonprofit arts organizations.
