VIVER BRASIL, a Los Angeles based company founded in 1997, honors Brazil's African legacy through bold contemporary dance theatre that increases awareness of the rich history and culture from which Afro-Brazilian dance and music emerged through performances, arts education, community engagement, and cultural exchange between Los Angeles County and Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
Viver Brasil is a nationally & internationally recognized, award-winning dance company known for celebrating, teaching and presenting Afro-Brazilian dance in Southern California with performances and workshops. We are seeking a Development Intern to support the Executive Director, Viver Brasil's sole full-time administrator, as if they were a key staff member. In the past our interns have participated in a variety of tasks including VB's annual fundraising event, the development of VB's annual report, and grant proposal writing. As a critical team member, interns are required to be able to communicate clearly, have a capacity for problem solving, and be able to function in a dynamic environment. Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Preparing acknowledgment letters and thank you cards for Viver Brasil donors, partners and sponsors Drafting a grant verbiage Developing a portfolio of grant opportunities Contributing to final grant reports Creating Viver Brasil's 2020 annual report, including writing copy and creating the layout, and Researching and creating a fundraising campaign, with the supervision of the Executive Director. This position is 100% remote and interns can work between 15-20 a week until their 400 hour commitment is satisfied.
