WordTheatre® is where authors, actors, and audiences meet to experience the world’s best contemporary literature brought to life. Ensembles of renowned actors bring stories to life, inspiring empathy, curiosity, and conversation in our audiences, which include under-served middle and high school students. These powerful and entertaining performances of stories that remind us of what it is to be human and encourage us to take time to reflect upon our lives and the lives of those around us.
The Media Intern will help ready WordTheatre's audio and video library, comprised of over 1200 stories, written by world class contemporary authors and performed by esteemed actors in LA, NY & London, for our upcoming podcast. This includes archiving event photographs, facilitating the signing of talent contracts, developing social media campaigns, and helping with the writing and setting up of digital interviews with the talent. The intern's writing and technical media skills will be utilized and improved under the supervision of experienced producers. Our intern also will be tasked with writing synopses of stories/themed shows and making suggestions for thematic groupings and may be asked to research and help write podcast introductions and postscripts. This position will be part time remote working about 20 hours a week from August through January.
Great organizational skills and a self-starter attitude required plus a familiarity with platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, Facebook, and iTunes. Strong writing skills and/or basic video and audio editing skills are appreciated. We prefer photoshop skills and familiarity with Microsoft Suite, we encourage social media creativity and we require a basic knowledge of WordPress for updating the WordTheatre website.
