The Cultural Equity Intensive is a three-month cohort program for up to 8 nonprofit arts organizations. Designed to develop and enhance cultural equity and inclusion practices across all aspects of the participating organizations, the program will:

  • provide an in-depth assessment and planning process for the organization’s cultural equity effort
  • guide participants to create a comprehensive cultural equity and inclusion plan
  • guide participants to develop a presentation to communicate the plan to other board, staff members, and external stakeholders
  • include one-on-one coaching tailored to the organization’s needs
  • include the opportunity learn alongside other organizations
  • provide space for organizations interested in taking a leadership role in their communities to “think big” through the support of a learning community

The Commitment

Participants will need to commit a 2-3 person team including the Executive Director/CEO and at least one board member. They must attend three half day (1PM–5PM) sessions taking place on January 11, February 8, and March 15. All sessions will take place at the LA County Departmetn of Arts and Culture. In addition, organizations should allocate time in between sessions to make use of one-on-one coaching in developing their plans.

How to Participate in the 2019 Program

The application window for the 2019 Cultural Equity Intensive Program is now closed. Please check back in Fall of 2019 for the 2020 application. Below, application requirements have been maintained for archival purposes.

Applications will be evaluated based on:

  • Organizational readiness to participate in the program, evidenced by:
    • Past, current or planned cultural equity and inclusion efforts
    • Description of why now is the right time for the organization to participate
    • Clarity of goals for participation
  • Thoroughness and thoughtfulness of the application
  • Composition of the proposed participant team
  • Ability to commit to the program
