The Los Angeles County Arts Commission (LACAC) seeks an Arts Education Consultant to provide logistic, communications and project support for the LA County Arts Education Innovation Lab (AEIL) coordinated by the LA County Arts Education Collective.
The LA County Arts Education Collective is dedicated to making the arts core in public education. LACAC staff coordinates the regional effort and the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) provides curriculum and instructional services for educators Countywide.
The Arts Education Innovation Lab is a group of cross-sector leaders who are working toward the shared goal that all 1.5 million public school students in LA County receive ongoing, high-quality arts education as part of a well-rounded education. Launched in January 2017, the Innovation Lab’s strategic visioning is guided by Theory U and facilitated by the Presencing Institute. To date, the AEIL has produced a draft Framework for Action and launched more than a dozen prototypes to test new approaches for scaling arts education across the County. This work will serve as the foundation for updating the LA County Regional Plan for Arts Education in 2019.

Manage stakeholder participation in the Innovation Lab
- Track and analyze the participation of arts education stakeholder groups
- Implement strategies for robustly engaging existing stakeholders and identifying and cultivating new stakeholders
- Coordinate communications among all stakeholders including development and dissemination of collateral, written updates, and monthly calls to the Innovation Lab planning team, prototype leaders and CA Arts Leadership Cohort
Support Innovation Lab prototype teams
- Provide technical assistance for existing and new prototype teams
- Track prototype initiation, development, and progress
- Implement systems for funding prototypes
- Process funding applications, coordinate distribution of funds, and assist with project assessment
Coordinate Theory U leadership development opportunities
- Serve as primary contact for coordinating Presencing Institute and Theory U partnership
- Assist with the production of Theory U and Presencing Institute convenings
- Coordinate communication and services for the CA Arts Leadership
Support ongoing Arts Education Innovation Lab growth
- Develop and process contracts and invoices; track program budgets; monitor contracts to ensure reporting compliance
- Monitor program effectiveness and support grant reporting; make recommendations for refining program design and delivery
A minimum of two years of experience with project coordination including grant management, event production and stakeholder engagement
- Understanding of the public education system and the field of community arts education organizations in Los Angeles County
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Solid time management and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, and web applications such as Basecamp, MyEmma, and Eventbrite
$2,000 - 3,000 monthly contract, depending on experience.
