Sumi Ink Club

About

Sumi Ink Club is a participatory drawing project and artist team comprised of Luke Fischbeck and Sarah Rara. They produce work cooperatively through a group drawing process as a means to open and fortify social interactions. Through the use of ink and brushes, bold black and white designs reflect the intimacy of face to face meetings and create a record of each participant in the artwork.

Fischbeck and Rara are co founders of Sumi Ink Club. Fischbeck received an MA in Music from Brown University and Rara received an MFA from the University of Southern California. They have exhibited and conducted workshops in San Francisco, New York, Italy, South Korea, Turkey and the United Kingdom, for both public and private institutions.
