In close collaboration with the Artistic and Administrative Directors and Program Coordinator, the Marketing & Program Intern’s primary project will be assisting with marketing and program efforts for our Young Theaterworks program incl. the “Social Justice Residency” and student performance “Seeds of Resistance”. The Intern’s work will consist of: MARKETING—create a social media campaign for Young Theaterworks programming and youth performance “Seeds of Resistance”, developing audience engagement; create print/digital collateral for all programs; assist marketing efforts as assigned by the marketing team. PROGRAMS—production and administrative tasks for the Young Theaterworks educational programming “Social Justice Residency” and performance “Seeds of Resistance”; pre-production tasks for “Seeds of Resistance” from in-class residency to full production; assist with related educational materials and logistics. Intern will work approx. 15-20 hours/wk from June to approx. Oct/Nov
The ideal candidate will be able to take direction and run with it. This requires enthusiasm, clear communication, good time management, and the ability to work well independently. They should have a passion for the performing arts in general, and a desire to learn about the L.A. arts and culture landscape. They should have excellent writing skills, and have experience with the Mac OS, Microsoft Office Suite and Google apps. Experience with photo and/or video editing software and graphics programs are highly encouraged. Other assets include marketing and/or community outreach experience; and production planning experience. Interest in Los Angeles history and familiarity with ensemble-based theater and/or theater by communities of color is very helpful. Preference will be given to those applicants with a serious interest in pursuing a career in the performing arts, arts education, arts administration, and/or marketing.
