The artworxLA Communications Intern will gain hands-on experience in developing a brand campaign from strategy to creative direction to production centered on the organization's legacy of positive youth development in Los Angeles County. The intern will expand their copywriting and design skills by helping to create key marketing assets in preparation for artworxLA's 35th Anniversary campaign. In order to develop the campaign strategy, the intern will conduct archival research into the organization's history and connect with artworxLA's various stakeholders via interviews that drive the creative storytelling for a "legacy project" that will help to set the course for the future of the organization's brand identity. This position will work approximately 30–40 hours a week from June to September 2026.
Qualified candidates will possess an interest in arts education and addressing the needs of youth in alternative high schools and juvenile camps and halls; interest in graphic design, photography, video, and marketing; familiarity with Adobe Suite and Google Workspace; strong organizational, research, communication, and critical-thinking skills. Successful candidates will have a basic understanding of social media and project management; collaborate well with a team; take initiative; ask questions; and be willing to learn new skills including online softwares like Squarespace and Mailchimp.
artworxLA re-engages students through the arts and provides a creative pathway to a future beyond high school graduation. We combat the high school dropout rate in LA County by providing long-term sequential arts programming at over 25 alternative high schools. Cultivating and maintaining effective partnerships with artists, educators, cultural centers, community organizations, and major cultural institutions in Los Angeles allows us to amplify our collective impact and the voices of the 800+ students we serve each year.
