The intern will act as an assistant instructor to the lead instructor for the first sessions of our “CTG Juniors” and our "CTG Kids" Summer Musical theatre workshops. Duties will include assisting with acting instruction, directing, costume development, technical production, and theatre exercises. The intern will then act as the lead instructor for the final session(s) of the workshops with assistance from the original instructor. Additionally, the intern will assist the Box Office Manager and staff with customer service, ticketing and reservation skills, updating attendance records, clerical duties and introductory level budget details. Both sections of internship duties will be overseen by our Youth Programs Administrator who will interface with the “CTG Juniors” and "CTG Kids" Lead Instructors and the Box Office Manager and will meet weekly with the Intern. The intern will work approximately 40 hours a week from June through August.
Ideally, the applicant will be enthusiastic, energetic, dependable, and self-motivated. The intern must have leadership qualities, good communication and organizational skills, and be a team player. The intern must also enjoy working with children and the general public. The intern ideally should be able to sing on key and have some experience in live theatre productions and improvisational exercises. Music training is a plus. A basic understanding of theatre tech is useful. Good understanding of customer service is useful as a part of each day will involve telephone and face-to-face interaction with theatre patrons and workshop parents. Also useful: basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel. Must have own transportation.
The Mission of the Canyon Theatre Guild is to make the world a better place by entertaining, educating, enlightening, and enriching our community through quality live theatre. Our vision is that when the Canyon Theatre Guild is mentioned everyone in the Santa Clarita Valley will know who we are, what we do, and consider us in an essential part of the social fabric of the community. CTG produces 9 full productions for its mainstage season, including musicals, comedies, drama, Shakespeare, improv, and family theatre. Also, it produces 10 workshop productions each year, for students reading aged through 17; Summer, After-school, and Daytime programs, with 10% of slots available for scholarship students.
