Description

The Marketing & Digital Content Intern will dive into promoting African Soul International's vibrant West African cultural programs and community center through fun social media and digital projects. With staff guidance, you'll capture photos and short videos from rehearsals or performances, draft engaging social posts about student impact stories, explore cool trends in arts marketing, create simple graphics using free tools like Canva, help manage a content calendar, and track basic likes/shares. You'll also assist with emails to schools and update our website or grant reports with program highlights. By summer's end, you'll build real skills in digital storytelling, social media, and audience connection—great for creative fields, communications, or starting your own projects!

Duties include:

  1. Taking photos/videos at events and editing them simply (with phone apps or basic software).
  2. Writing short, exciting social media captions about our programs' impact.
  3. Researching fun trends for youth and arts on platforms like Instagram or TikTok.
  4. Designing easy graphics or flyers in Canva, following staff templates.
  5. Helping schedule posts and check engagement stats in a shared tracker.

Additional Duties and Activities

Primarily focused on marketing projects, you'll also attend weekly team meetings for nonprofit insights, enjoy live West African performances, shadow program delivery, handle light admin like file sorting, network with LA arts guests, participate in career workshops, and collaborate remotely with our marketing and design team. We customize opportunities based on what sparks your interest!

Qualifications

No prior experience required—just enthusiasm for arts, marketing, culture, or nonprofits! Strong communication skills and social media comfort are great; we're seeking curious collaborators excited about cultural arts and youth stories. Basic tech skills like Google Workspace are a plus. Show your passion through school clubs, hobbies, or personal projects!
